School of Villains by Naolito is a great ode to the best characters in Disney movies- the bad guys. Seeing them from behind like this is a great reminder of the strong character design they have, with bold coloring and unique silhouettes that make them instantly recognizable even to the most casual fan. With a lot of villains, the reason for their evil isn’t questioned or explored, so it feels good to see an explanation not only for why they’re bad, but also why they choose such weird harebrained schemes. The chalkboard’s collection of villainous plots (including gems like the spinning wheel and poison apple) highlights this absurdity well. It’s an awesome concept, and I’m glad the illustration distills the joke to its essence by not bothering with needless details like desks and chairs- the chalkboard is enough to make the environment clearly a classroom.
