Mountain Spirit by alfbocreative is my favorite Threadless print this week. It’s a beautiful landscape piece, quickly capturing attention with the bright orange of the tiny fox at the bottom of the scene. Color is also used effectively in the tree lines, fading from dark to light as the art travels upwards. The highest tree line holds a secret, subtly creating a huge, ghostly fox out of ribbons of fog tracing their way through the treetops. It’s a beautiful scene, and captures the magic and majesty of nature.
Sushi Cats by ppmid puts a bunch of adorable kittens into the sushi format, rolled into rich, fish and sushi. Perhaps because of their love of fish, these cats all seem very happy to be there with big grins and relaxed, lounging poses. My favorite is the grey cat, who reaches for the chopsticks and seems to already be chewing on something- got to respect a snacker! And while I can’t read it, the Japanese (?) writing adds to the strangeness of the piece, while also looking great with its soft shadowing.
Wear Yourself a Mask by Thomas Orrow is a nice, well-illustrated way to make a political point. In a climate where not everyone is willing to wear a mask and it has become a politicized issue, it feels refreshing to see one of the most popular and revered presidents of all time stand up for the cause. Keeping most of the illustration to dark grey allows the bright blue of the mask and hand sanitizer to stand out, making the message even more clear.
