Don’t Talk to Me I’m Listening to Music by tobefonseca centers on a very relatable concept, the frustration of being interrupted when you are clearly focused on something else. Listening to music on big, bulky headphones is a great example of the phenomenon because it’s such a common experience, and because it so obviously blocks the ears from being able to hear anything else. In this design, all the lettering is held within the cocoon of the headphones, which is a great representation of the bubble of solitude and being alone with your thoughts that the technology creates. The type has an eclectic feel, with color and style altering with every line in a way that feels like a mix tape. I also love the way the doodled icons enhance the emotion the text channels, with flames, lightning, and especially the angry cartoon skull channeling some good-natured faux-aggression.
