Threadless’s Mental Health Matters design contest

Clear your head for Threadless’s latest design competition, Mental Health Matters. Here’s what they’re looking for…

According to the CDC, more than 50% of people in the United States get diagnosed with a mental illness or disorder at some point in their lifetime. Despite how common mental illness is, many people avoid seeking help for their conditions due to the stigma still associated with mental health. Mental health should NOT be ignored.

For your next Design Challenge, make a new design emphasizing the importance of mental health. It’s not only okay, it’s necessary for everyone to nurture their own mental well-being. You can approach your design from a variety of different angles. You could express solidarity with those suffering from anxiety or depression by crafting a unique motivational message. Or, you could offer up ways people can take care of themselves, such as taking a mental health day, meditating, or talking to a therapist. You could even portray the day-to-day struggles of living with a mental illness or disorder, if it hits close to home.

After submitting your design and adding it to your Artist Shop, go one step further and help make an impact on the lives of those experiencing mental illness. From your Artist Dashboard, you have the power to donate a portion of your earnings from the sale of your new design to a variety of Mental Health Awareness charities. Some of the Threadless Causes organizations include StrongMinds, Trans Lifeline, Mental Health America, and the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation.

This contest ends on May 28th. One First Place winner will earn $1250 cash and a $250 Threadless gift code. One Second Place winner will receive $500 cash and a $250 Threadless gift code. One Third Place winner will get $250 cash and a $250 Threadless gift code. All designers printed will earn up to $7 per item sold (learn more about Threadless artist payments).
