Threadless’s Skaters Gonna Skate

Skaters Gonna Skate by pweye is delightfully absurd. By erasing the negativity of the phrase “haters gonna hate” in replacing hate with skate, the scene is set for celebrating doing the things you enjoy, with no thought given to those who might disapprove. I love the defiant pose of the centaur, who with hands on hips and dark shades donned looks extremely confident and unflappable. There’s a nice similarity in the bounce and shading of the hair and tail, making them both look shimmery. But the star of this piece is unquestionably those tall, striped socks. The legs are elongated to make them even more of a focal point, and pastel colors draw the eye. With our angle low as we gaze upward at this incredible creature, it feels like looking at a superhero in hero pose or a dramatic statue.
