As early as 1000 AD, socks were a symbol of wealth among nobility. Today, socks might be the most overlooked part of an outfit, despite the many purposes they serve. Socks absorb moisture, provide warmth, and cushion feet. When you hang them above a fireplace, they become a classic holiday decoration. When you stuff them into a holiday stocking, they create sock inception. Let’s bring these unsung heroes back from fashion obscurity with this next Design Challenge.
Socks don’t have as many opportunities to shine as a t-shirt, especially if the wearer is donning long pants. So, it’s important for socks to make a strong impression whenever they’re finally seen. Consider creating a design that immediately attracts the eye with a unique all-over print and bold colors—maybe even neon. You can also use your uniquely shaped canvas to create a landscape scene where the ankle of the sock is the sky. Or, transform an original character into a sock puppet and really let your design do the talking!
This contest opens to entries on November 13th, 2020 and ends on November 27th. One winner will earn $500 cash and a $500 Threadless gift code. All designers printed will earn up to $7 per item sold (learn more about Threadless artist payments).
