Where They Belong – Winter by speakerine is my favorite Threadless shirt this week. I love a good pattern, and this one fits the bill with its outdoorsy scenes of animals layered on the environments they live in. So buffalo and deer are backed by tall trees, while coyotes and bears get more mountainous scenery. Using the darkest ink color for the animals ensures that they’re the focal point, and a uniform softer grey for the landscapes helps them to fade more into the background. The variety of tree type helps to keep things interesting- some are tall and thin while others are fat and bushy, some have leaves while others have pine needles. And to fill in gaps of empty space between these pieces, birds soar and help connect the scenes to each other. It’s good work, and feels like an old-fashioned toile updated with a modern eye.
Threadless prints new shirts every week, chosen from the designs submitted by and voted on by site members. Most winners earn $1 to $7 per item sold.
